Intel Core i7-990X reviewed: best performance ever

From T-Pain, once so wisely proclaimed, "is no less hard hexacore." Intel should have no problem with its Core i7-990x, which has enough processing units capable of satisfying the most demanding of hip hop mogul, but his powers extreme pads anyway with speeds of 3.46GHz by default in bold. This can be increased to 3.73 GHz Turbo (yes, we are talking about a processor that can operate at 3730 MHz right of the box) and has 12 MB of L3 cache and three channels of DDR3 memory to justify the price $ 999. Well, partly justify it, anyway. Tech Report Tom's Hardware and they ran this new chip through its benchmarking suites and both have concluded that it is the fastest processor around consumption, but were unwilling to recommend it as a terribly smart buying decision. And then, when you have an Extreme Edition of everything that was a good value proposition?
