Another day, another mobile Linux platform launched. The flavor greetings all the way from China Unicom - partner of Apple iPhone is unique in China through its WCDMA network - which has just announced WoPhone platform, ironically, "Break the monopoly of foreign smartphone platform." Of course, this is not the first time a Chinese company has been promoting its own operating system - TD-SCDMA in China Mobile, the operator has already OPhone, if it is still a bastard Android, while China Unicom is WoPhone claims a completely new operating system built around the Linux kernel. That said, some UI elements WoPhone look very familiar.
Although we do not expect to see this new operating system escaped with the rest of the world in the near future, a handful of manufacturers - namely, Motorola, Samsung, HTC, TCL, K-Touch, ZTE, Huawei and so on - - and partners services in the cloud were present at the launch yesterday of showing the first group of devices, including U2's photo above K-Touch.
